Threat causes shutdown of Hillsdale Co Courthouse Thursday, September 14

The Hillsdale County Courthouse had to be locked down for a couple of hours on Wednesday after a man threatened to hurt himself and District Court officials. The Branch County Sheriff's Office says the threats were made while the man, who was said to be in his 40s, was at a counseling service in Coldwater.

A home in Branch County's Butler Township was gutted by fire over the weekend. There were no injuries in the Sunday afternoon blaze but the single story structure and most of the contents of the residence on Clarendon Road north of Bidwell Road were declared a total loss.

A high speed pursuit that went through three counties ended south of Homer Wednesday morning with the apprehension of a suspect who was wanted out of Kalamazoo County. At least two and perhaps as many as four Michigan State Police units were damaged during the pursuit which started in Calhoun County.

A Bronson Township man is facing multiple gun and drug counts after being arrested in the City of Bronson this past weekend. 29-year old Ryan Gump was taken into custody early Saturday morning following a traffic stop in a local convenience store parking lot.
