The Hillsdale County Sheriff's Department is investigating a two vehicle head on crash which injured three persons including a two-year-old child Tuesday evening on U.S. 12 in Allen Township. Deputies report it happened at 5:38 p.m. west of Thompson Road.

Former Branch County court employee Evon Staley filed a sexual harassment complaint in late October against Prosecutor Ralph Kimble, and now two more women who work at the Branch County Courthouse have come forward, telling WWMT-TV that they were also subjected to unwanted sexual advances and harassment. They preferred to remain anonymous.

Interim Superintendent Martin Chard says the agreement calls for Globke to be on paid administrative leave until August 31, 2018, at which time her employment with the school district will end. Chard said Bill Childs will serve as the Interim Business Manager for the rest of this school year and the district will advertise for a new Business Manager in February or March.

A hearing for the entry of pleas has been scheduled for next Monday afternoon in Branch County Circuit Court in two cases that have been filed against a former Quincy school teacher who was charged earlier this year with six counts of criminal sexual conduct. A three day jury trial was scheduled to start on December 5th in the case of 44-year-old Jason Ferrell.

A Community Health Center of Branch County employee once again Tuesday asked the Branch County Board of Commissioners to delay the take over of the hospital by Promedica Health System of Toledo, because 32 hospital employees will not be able to draw early retirement benefits. Hospital President and CEO Randy DeGroot said during last Thursday's work session that the original asset purchase agreement allowed for access of early retirement benefits but it has been replaced by a joinder agreement, and according to the Municipal Employees Retirement System, that access is no longer available.

A 19-year-old Coldwater resident was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering guilty pleas to charges of using a computer to commit a crime and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct. Stempien was given concurrent nine month jail sentences on the two counts with credit for 95 days already served.

Michigan State Police say alleged embezzlement by an employee of a Quincy car dealership that was reported a year ago has resulted in a suspect turning herself in at the Branch County Jail. The owner of Bluezers Cruzers contacted the State Police about the case and filed the complaint in October 2016.

Michigan State Police say a 68-year old Branch County woman was sexually assaulted in her home last night and a 34-year old suspect has been taken into custody. State Police say the victim called 911 at 10:20 pm, telling the dispatcher she had been attacked by an acquaintance of several years who had been visiting her Thursday evening and reported that the man then fled the residence following the assault.
