Continuing through this Saturday is the St. Joseph County Grange Fair in Centreville. It's one of the latest in the season county fairs to be held in Michigan, and a big focus is agriculture.
|Secretary of State's Mobile Office joins St. Joseph County veterans' 'Stand Down' event|

The Secretary of State Mobile Office will offer identification cards and many other services at a veterans' "Stand Down" Friday, Oct. 6, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today. The event, which also includes the St. Joseph County Housing Task Force's Project Connect program, runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Firm Foundation Ministries, 651 E. Main Street in Centreville.

The unseasonable heat that has moved into the area has cancelled a football game in Vicksburg, will close four private schools in Grand Rapids for all or part of the day, Some of the animals at the St. Joseph County Grange Fair had to be released because of the heat. Fall officially arrives at 4:02 this afternoon, that's when the sun will reach its autumnal equinox and Meteorlogist Ernie Ostuno at the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, says that's the big difference between today and a day in July.

A 31-year-old from the Schoolcraft area is in the St. Joseph County jail after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase Sunday afternoon. Michigan State Police say the driver reached speeds of up to 100 mph after a trooper tried to pull him over near Colon.
