I've Finally Had a Haircut
Tue, 02 Aug 2016 10:00:43 GMT
I have been growing my hair, or you could say, I have been ignoring my hair, for at least the last 3 years. The reasoning behind this was that as I got older and went grey, although I would prefer to go pure white and not a murky grey, I rather fancied having a long single white plait flowing down my back. However at this point in my life and with all my health problems I am feeling quite depressed.  I was also beginning to loo [...]
Learning Dutch
Sun, 24 Jul 2016 00:00:00 GMT
I have been meaning for ages to start learning a new language.  I would prefer to learn once a week at night school but after checking in my area it seems that no Dutch evening classes are being offered anywhere.  So I have gone back to Duolingo.com.I joined that ages ago to brush up and go further with my German, but never bothered to make the time for it.  And besides the time for using that now has passed for me.  There is little possiblility of me going back to a c [...]
Learning to Play a Penny Whistle
Mon, 27 Jun 2016 00:00:00 GMT
I have never been able to play a musical instrument.  When I was a child I had a go at learning the piano and I was totally useless because however hard I tried I simply couldn't learn to read music.I also tried a long time ago to learn to play an acoustic guitar.  If my life had depended on it I simply couldn't make the fingers of my left hand contort anywhere near being able to touch the strings as they should be touched.  So that went by the board as well.I have always wanted t [...]
I've Treated Myself to a Fitbit
Thu, 16 Jun 2016 09:00:35 GMT
I have been thinking about getting a Fitbit for a long time now, but they are expensive and I wasn't sure it was worth it when I could continue to count my steps and keep track of my exercise via a simple mobile phone app.  But having read yesterday that an online friend has just bought one it made me think again.Remembering to carrying my phone close to my body at all times to record my steps etc. is a real pain.  I always remember to carry it when leaving the house of course, [...]
Guided Tour of Highcliffe Castle
Thu, 31 Mar 2016 10:30:26 GMT
This afternoon my Daughter, youngest Granddaughter and I spent a very interesting and pleasant couple of hours on a guided tour of the "closed to the public" parts of Highcliffe Castle, Dorset, that is in the middle of a very expensive, and much needed, restoration.Rather than rattle on regarding the history of the castle in this post I felt a link to the Wiki page for this would be far better as it explains in far more detail than I could as to why so much is having to be spent on restor [...]
A Quick Update
Wed, 30 Mar 2016 11:45:36 GMT
Having been very ill since the beginning of February I have been missing from the web for most of these many weeks.  I am now beginning to feel a lot better, although I do still have several hospital tests to get through over the next few weeks, which I am not looking forward to.  Of course I am also hoping those tests don't show up anything nasty.I have become very unfit due to being in pain and discomfort and am not yet well enough to start building up that fitness which is very depr [...]
A Halloween Filofax
Sun, 18 Oct 2015 09:26:47 GMT
Changing from a pocket size into a personal size Filofax this week and making all new dividers for it gave me the bug to want to make more.I know that it's a bit late in the month and heading fast towards Halloween but I decided to also make some Halloween dividers and move again, only this time into a black Domino Filofax just for the last couple of weeks left in this month before Halloween.I"m now thinking of making different dividers for each month.  After all each month does have [...]
A Couple of Filofax Days
Sat, 17 Oct 2015 09:30:37 GMT
I have had a very quiet couple of days at the end of this week, so I decided to take the opportunity to transfer from my pocket size Filofax into a larger personal size.  I haven't used the personal size since quiting work several years ago, so I didn't have any inserts for it.  I have made a few changes and additions from the pages I use in my pockets size, and it was great fun thinking about what I wanted, creating the pages and finally creating some new dividers.I have for a [...]
A Brand New Trike
Sat, 05 Sep 2015 09:33:40 GMT
Today I took delivery of my brand new tricycle.  Not only a new trike but this one is an E-Trike.In anticipation of it's arrival I sold my old manual trike (Tess) to my local bike shop for £200.  It was a very fair price for her considering she was 6 years old, spotted with rust and had done a lot of miles for me.  She had only cost me brand new £450.I did love old Tess and was sorry to see her go, but unfortunately the hills were becoming a little too hard for me to p [...]
