So I cued the album up, expecting some klezmer with folky overtones, and found myself entranced by one of the most intense and heartstopping sounds I’ve heard in years.

Pink! - Beautiful Truth
Fri, 13 Oct 2017 10:48:00 +0100
Pink! fans have been anxiously anticipating the feisty pop icon's seventh studio album from the moment she unleashed the stunning The Truth About Love back in 2012. While 2014's side project You+Me explored a rather lush folk sensibility and gifted a new angle to Pink!'s loyal fanbase, the three year wait for a return to the solo domain has felt like an eternity to many. Having teased the album's release with the truly moving What About Us earlier this year, a song which still dominates the radio waves and many a Spotify playlist, it is clear that while Pink!'s enjoyed her time away from the spotlight, her distinctive ability to pen an unforgettable hit has not left her. So what of album #7? Given that each album she has released has boasted key signature elements but thrown new ingredients into the mix, what does Beautiful Trauma bring to the table?
Drake White
Fri, 13 Oct 2017 10:09:00 +0100
Alabama's Drake White has not been in rush to release material. While he dabbled with an independently released album back in 2011, he released his major label debut single in 2013 but waited until 2016 to unleash the phenomenally awesome debut album Spark. Having wowed country fans the world over with his stunning melodies and magical lyricism, he returned to the UK last week for a series of shows with Kip Moore. We caught up with him to find out how the distinctly American sound relates to UK audiences.
Dolly Parton - I Believe In You
Fri, 13 Oct 2017 09:00:00 +0100
To date Dolly Parton has released a phenomenal 43 studio albums. While best known as a Queen of Country, Dolly has of course dabbled in a huge array of genres and collaborated with a whole host of names. This year alone she has been on high profile releases from her Goddaughter Miley Cyrus and Kesha. Yet with everything she has achieved in her career, there is one surprising area she has never explored. While she runs The Imagination Library, a charity which promotes access to books for children around the world, and has often spoken of her love of children, Dolly has never released an album targeted at the children's market. All that changes this year as with her 44th studio album Dolly releases I Believe In you, which is a collection of classic hits and new compositions targeted at the younger audience.

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 22:35:00 +0100
Omar and The Howlers are one of the great 2nd division Texas bar and roadhouse bands and these two albums catch them pretty well at the beginning of something special.
Lady Antebellum, Kelsea Ballerini, Brett Young - Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham
Tue, 10 Oct 2017 09:54:00 +0100
A decade has past since Lady Antebellum were first noticed by the international music community, when they featured on Jim Brickman's Never Alone. A year later they released their eponymous debut album, marking the start of what would prove to be a multi-million selling record career. While still best known in the UK for their #15 charting 2009 single Need You Now, the group have earned themselves a loyal following within the UK. Having proved a huge hit when they headlined Country2Country in 2015, the group are now a stadium touring trio who were invited onto BBC Breakfast to discuss their seventh studio Heart Break just ahead of their UK tour. While their Birmingham audience only filled around 2/3 of the Barclaycard Arena, there was an excited audience counting down to their set as they watched the "Barbie and Ken" (Lady A's own words) of country's sets.

Sat, 07 Oct 2017 22:37:00 +0100
Australian revival band Soul Messengers are back with their third album Vision & Faith, a warm album of '70s jazz-funk-blues fusion. Tinged with the gospel spirit but with just enough down under colloquialisms and four-letter words peppered in to keep it honest.

Justice - Brixton Academy
Sat, 07 Oct 2017 10:30:00 +0100
As they take to the stage Justice look effortlessly cool and continental. But these aren’t hollow aesthetics. Justice have it where it counts.

Belinda Carlilse - Wilder Shores
Fri, 06 Oct 2017 10:38:00 +0100
Belinda Carlisle is best known for her epic pop anthems Heaven Is A Place On Earth, California, Circle In The Sand and Always Breaking My Heart, but for her first studio album in a decade, she takes a very different approach. Having explored a series of chansons inspired covers for 2007's much overlooked Voila, for her return to record Belinda explores her passion for Kundalini Yoga on Wilder Shores. With a very different approach to her previous recordings, can this rather off-beat collection really resonate with her audience?
