Martine McCutcheon - Lost and Found
Wed, 16 Aug 2017 13:34:00 +0100
For a fleeting few years back at the turn of the noughties Martine McCutcheon was the name on everyone's lips. Having proved a triumphant hit with audiences on EastEnders as Tiffany Mitchell, she left the show to score her Perfect Moment as a popstar. Landing at #1 with her debut single in 1999, her subsequent ballad heavy debut album You, Me & Us proved equally popular and achieved #2 in the album charts. Although the disco tinged Wishing failed to match the success of her debut just a year later, it was 2002's Musicality which saw her sign off from life as a pop star. A collection of musical theatre numbers timed to release alongside her award winning appearance in Breakfast At Tiffany's, the album didn't resonate with her fanbase. Although her appearance in Love Actually reaffirmed her place in the hearts of audiences around the world, ill health caused her to slow down her career pace and her resurgence into popularity followed after her addition to the Loose Women panel last year.

Will Hoge - Anchors
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 08:54:00 +0100
Will Hoge has had quite the ride since his 2001 major label debut Carousel. The 45 year old Americana singer has experienced the highest highs and accolades awarded a recording artist, while simultaneously battling against a creative industry that all too often cripples creatives. Having been last heard on record dabbling with a rather predictable, but very enjoyable contemporary country sound for 2015's Small Town Dreams, fans of definitive voice were left craving something with a little more depth from the talented man. Thankfully he has just released Anchors, an album which exceeds all his previous bodies of work and will not just satisfy the hunger of his audience but see him win over a whole new audience.
Wildwood Kin - Turning Tides
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 08:29:00 +0100
Wildwood Kin are a band whose public profile has been steadily on the rise since their 2015 EP Salt of the Earth. The 4 song collection boasted flawless harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and a truly emotive delivery. The subsequent year they were invited by folk royal Seth Lakeman to join him on his album Ballads of the Broken Few. Once again their appearance saw them reap the rewards of their natural ability. Following an extensive tour with Ward Thomas earlier this year, Wildwood Kin are perfectly placed to achieve mainstream acclaim with their debut effort Turning Tides.

Shelby Lynne & Allison Moorer - Not Dark Yet
Thu, 17 Aug 2017 10:14:00 +0100
Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer did not have the easiest start in life. The Alabama born sisters were still in their teens when they witnesses their abusive father murder their mother before taking his own life. Having been raised in an abusive environment, the skilled songwriters found solace in song and both gradually made their way closer to Nashville, where they managed to establish themselves as artists of the highest pedigree. With numerous accolades to their names, the sisters have often spoken about a collaborative project but have only just found time in their schedules to craft a body of work that they are ready to share with the world.
Ruby & The Revelators - Walk With Me
Mon, 14 Aug 2017 19:41:00 +0100
Their music is captivating – Blues tinged with soul and jazz – and the band are surprisingly good; Louise Maggs on guitar, John Whale on bass, Paco Munoz on drums and stunning keys from Frazer Wigg.
Kesha - Rainbow
Mon, 14 Aug 2017 09:38:00 +0100
Kesha Rose Sebert may be one of the most visible artists in the world given her court battle with former producer Lukasz 'Dr. Luke' Gottwald, but her change of sonic direction of her very long-awaited third studio album is one that should not be a surprise to anybody. For before the $ replaced the s in her name, the daughter of country songwriter and one-time The Simple Life star Pebe Sebert, had already openly discussed her inner battle between the two genres that defined her music taste. Upon leaving Nashville to seek fame and fortune, Kesha was armed with two songs - a tender country ballad and a trip-hop explosion. It would be the attitude within the later that would define her Dr. Luke years, but when left to her own devices to formulate her own artistic voice, the country within shines brightly.
Walter Trout - We're All In This Together
Sun, 13 Aug 2017 17:28:00 +0100
This album shows another and very different side of Trout. 14 tracks performed with, many of the Blues musicians who supported him emotionally through his career.
William The Conqueror - Proud Disturber Of The Peace
Fri, 11 Aug 2017 14:08:00 +0100
Over the last decade Ruarri Joseph has established himself as one of Atlantic Records most intriguing and versatile signings. However having released his last solo record nearly half a decade ago, many wondered what had become of the skilled songsmith. Earlier this year all was revealed as he announced his return as part of Cornish trio William The Conqueror. The folk driven trio have been met with critical applause for the slow trickle of singles they have released to tease the arrival of their debut album, Proud Disturber Of The Peace. With a versatility to their sound already evident, does the 10 song collection meet up with the wants of an audience who have been waiting for a new Ruarri release for so many years.
Hypochristmutreefuzz - Hypopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia

No, your eyes do not deceive you, the cat hasn’t run over the keyboard. Nor is this an optician’s test board.
NJE - Afloat
Tue, 08 Aug 2017 23:02:00 +0100
NJE stands for Near Jazz Experience but I would have to say that this is a fine and full-on modern jazz album.

Morrissey & Marshall - We Rise
Sat, 05 Aug 2017 13:24:00 +0100
Taking their cues from the best of the indie scene they seem to cross genres but their songs really have a lift and heart-lifting groove.

The Last Dinosaur - The Nothing
Fri, 04 Aug 2017 09:07:00 +0100
Symbolically the number 7 denotes ‘perfection, security, safety and rest’. For The Last Dinosaur these notions have been a long time coming.
