In Memory of my brother who passed away in 2011
Mon, 20 Nov 2017 23:21:04 GMT
Andre was my favourite brother and he always had this competition with my sister to see who managed to call me first on New Years day. We spoke almost every fortnight, either by phone or via Skype and I do miss hearing his voice and his cheekiness so much. I'm forever grateful for our Skype sessions; especially in the end as we shared some real private, yet profound moments.

Separating Bedroom and Living Room Areas
Fri, 03 Nov 2017 22:15:47 GMT
A couple of years ago Sarah brought me back from one of her visits abroad a cotton bed throw.  I have never found a use for it because of it's colouring, so it has remained in it's bag since then. The other day I thought "I wonder if that bed throw will be big enough to have as a hanging between the bed and living room areas"  So I got up and down using my nest of tables as a step ladder to measure both the space and then the spread and after sewing some curtain tape along the top I was able ...

Kerry Kirk's NDE
Sat, 21 Oct 2017 14:52:45 GMT
Kerry Kirk is a lesbian who corresponded with Kevin Williams and described her near-death experience. This experience appears in Mr. Williams' book, Nothing Better Than Death.   The following happened to me during the summer of 1981. I was nineteen at the time. It was a time in my life when I had pretty much decided that there could be no God, no great being in control of the world around me. If there were, he wasn't doing a very good job. I didn't realize it at the time, but once I had made ...
Church Number 3
Wed, 18 Oct 2017 16:10:18 GMT
As I mentioned in another post I haven't felt quite at home in either of the other two churches that I have been to services in these last few weeks and have been trying to find one that I do really feel at home in. Yesterday (Saturday) I was wandering to the end of the high street to go and pick up my prescription and I passed by the local Methodist Church which had it's doors wide open and a stall of bric-a-brac outside.  So I thought I'd have a wander in and take a look around. I was ...
Victoria and Abdul
Fri, 13 Oct 2017 16:31:22 GMT
Just got back from an afternoon at the cinema with Aimee.  We went to see Victoria and Abdul. The best couple of hours I have spent for a long time.   Hilariously funny, and once again Judi Dench excels as Queen Victoria.  One not to be missed. The story is a very true one but the witty repartee is the film makers licence, although probably not far off the truth as it was taken from both the diaries of Queen Victoria and Abdul himself. His diaries were discovered in 2001. We went early ...
Proof of Heaven: A Doctor’s Experience With the Afterlife
Thu, 05 Oct 2017 09:39:17 GMT
Proof of Heaven: A Doctor’s Experience With the Afterlife By  Dr. Eben Alexander As a neurosurgeon, I did not believe in the phenomenon of near-death experiences. I grew up in a scientific world, the son of a neurosurgeon. I followed my father’s path and became an academic neurosurgeon, teaching at Harvard Medical School and other universities. I understand what happens to the brain when people are near death, and I had always believed there were good scientific explanations for the heavenly ...

Avatar Sizes - Controlling of
Sat, 23 Sep 2017 11:56:29 GMT
We can change the size of the avatars allowed in the general settings   Which works wonderfully well for those avatars that are uploaded into the system.  However that internal setting doesn't work for linked avatar images. To control the size of avatars for the linked ones add this code in the css.  Change the size to suit yourself. Code:/*Avatar in posts*/ .postdetails.poster-profile a img {max-width: 150px;}
Cheesy Tomato Pasta
Tue, 12 Sep 2017 02:09:22 GMT
This is a recipe I invented myself when on holiday in a caravan.  Not wanting to cook a massive meal for 6 people I quickly whipped this up.  It makes a really quick, easy and cheap supper dish. Contains all three of the major food groups. This recipe will serve 2 to 3 people. Ingredients: Long spaghetti pasta or fusilli pasta (enough for all) Tin of plum tomatoes (400g) or sliced fresh tomatoes Plenty of grated cheddar cheese Salt to taste Method: Boil the pasta (with ...

Hello, Like I said I am from the state of Illinois.  You know the stare where we have a great retirement plan for our Governors.  First we let them spend all the money, then we jail them for a while, then we let them out to spend the rest of the money they stole. It's a beautiful system.....I am not usually so political.  I am actually embarrassed to say I am from Illinois.  Sad eh?  Anyway, my decedents are from England and the US.  I have been married for over 43 years, we have 2 kids, ...

Lamb Mince with Rich Tomato Sauce
Mon, 04 Sep 2017 14:13:07 GMT
As I had Aimee and Troy coming for a game of cards this evening I wanted to give them a decent dinner but didn't want to spend time in the kitchen cooking it all up and then having a bloody great mess to clean up after, so I made a few short cuts. I prepared all this at 10am this morning and shoved it in the crockpot.  I used frozen chopped onions and frozen mushrooms to save me time buggering around chopping. I served it with heated tinned new potatoes and a frozen cauliflowers and broccoli ...
