My Filofaxes
Mon, 29 May 2017 21:44:40 GMT
I thought before I packed all my Filofaxes away ready to move I would would display them all together and take a  photo of them to share.

These are those I have in A5, Personal, Pocket and Mini sizes.

The 3rd from the left is a Filofax Clipbook and the one on the very end on the right is a Filofax Flexi

A Nice Tidy Stationery Cupboard
Mon, 29 May 2017 21:41:48 GMT
I've just spent 5 hours tidying and sorting out my stationery cabinet.  Everything now has it's own clearly labelled box so that I can put my hands on it immediately, and now I might also have room in there for a little more.

I've Been Offered a New Apartment
Mon, 29 May 2017 21:38:43 GMT
Almost two months ago I applied for an apartment in the same over 60s complex that I was living in up until just over a year ago.  I gave it up in May 2016 to live with my girls for a short while and was hoping to get back there at the very latest by September.    On ringing the office today to see how far up the list, or rather how far down the list I was - before I could do more than give my name over I was told that they already have something for me. The flat they are offering me is ...

Banning Sweet Treats from the Work Place
Wed, 24 May 2017 02:55:45 GMT
Can you believe that businesses are now being asked to ban all sweet treats from the work place.  Now I assume this is in any provided canteen or vending machine. But where does it end?  Do they then ban any treats that are brought in by their workers.  Do they stop the tradition of bringing in cream cakes on someones birthday. Everything now has to be non or low sugar.  The sugar is replaced by artificial sweetners which several years ago we were told by the health authority causes a higher ...

What is Quaxing? Quaxing is shopping without a car. It can be by walking, bicycling, bus, or train. An Auckland politician Dick Quax stated that "no one in the entire western world uses the train for their shopping trips"  - This quickly started the quaxing hashtag (#quaxing) on Twitter by bicyclists from all over the world.  It was followed by others that also shopped by walking and public transport.  Usually the #quaxing hashtag is accompanied by a photograph. The above image is me ...

Real Officer Reports from the Navy
Mon, 22 May 2017 21:49:59 GMT
These are real officer reports from the navy 1. His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of curiosity. 2. I would not breed from this Officer. 3. This man is depriving a village somewhere of its idiot. 4. This officer can be likened to a small puppy – he runs around excitedly, leaving little messes for other people to clean up. 5. This Officer is really not so much of a has-been, more of a definitely won’t-be. 6. When she opens her mouth, it seems only to change whichever ...
An American in England
Mon, 22 May 2017 21:37:16 GMT
An American in England I was in England again a few weeks ago, mostly in small towns, but here’s some of what I learned: Almost everyone is very polite The food is generally outstanding There are no guns There are too many narrow stairs Everything is just a little bit different The pubs close too early The reason they drive on the left is because all their cars are built backwards Pubs are not bars, they are community living rooms. You’d better like peas, potatoes and sausage Refrigerators ...
Popping By
Sun, 21 May 2017 11:10:47 GMT
Just popping by. The site actually loaded quickly for me today. On Friday I called IT to figure out why a news site I use for work wouldn't load. They had me install an ad blocker saying that some ad on the site was causing it to get caught in our firewall. That made me think that perhaps the same thing was happening here as well. Seems to be the case. Anyway, not much going on in my neck of the woods. I may stop in more often now that the site actually loads for me, but not sure. Work has ...
My Purse/Wallet Planner
Sat, 20 May 2017 23:17:40 GMT
At the moment I use an mini orange metropol as a purse. Mini filofaxes are now very hard to get hold of as Filofax over the last few years have reduced their selection. This orange metropol I had to send to Hungary to buy as it had completely been discontinued by filofax and everywhere else in the world had sold out and were not getting any more in.  It actually cost me more in postage than the filofax cost me. I added the green lanyard so that I can put it on my wrist when shopping.  ...
My First Visit to the Church Meeting
Sat, 20 May 2017 11:48:17 GMT
I managed to drag Aimee out of bed this morning to honour her promise to take me to the church meeting.  I am sure she regretted offering as she didn't go to bed until late last night. I felt a bit mean having her take me so if I do go again before I move back to the flat, and while I am still living here, I will make other arrangements to get there. The meeting was held in a hall a little way back off the road.  I got there a bit early and as I had arranged to meet Brenda outside I didn't ...

The Lost City of Z
Fri, 19 May 2017 22:46:49 GMT
Several weeks ago Aimee asked me if I would like to go to the cinema on the 17th of this month with her, Sarah and Jess.  Being as how I had just promised myself that I would start getting off my backside and doing something more than playing on the computer day after day, and even though I loath sitting in a cinema I instantly said yes. The film "The Lost City of Z" when she described it to me sounded right up my street anyway so it wasn't too hard to agree to go. It was the true story ...
Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi
Thu, 18 May 2017 08:00:33 GMT
Because I hate Islam so much and what it is doing to our society in this country, a few months ago I set about researching exactly what Islamists believe (know thy enemy etc). During my reading up on it I came across a video of the testamony of an ex-Muslim and his journey to Christianity.  I not only found his testamony fascinating but also how in depth he goes into Islamic beliefs. His journey towards Christianity I found so fascinating that I went out and bought his book that he had ...

Skype and Microsoft
Sat, 13 May 2017 21:14:02 GMT
I am so peed off I can't tell you. This windows computer that I am now using decided to do an update.  After the update I found that Skype was incompatable with it. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Skype.  Still it's incompatable.  So while I sort it I thought I would log into Skype on line so that I could at least use it while I sort things. However, it forced me to log in with my microsoft account which I had to have in order to use this comp. Once in Skype I now have no contacts ...
