TRB is accepting papers for consideration as part of the program for the 99th TRB Annual Meeting, January 12-16, 2020, in Washington, D.C., and/or for publication in the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board (TRR). Conducted every five years, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) is beginning redesign of their Commodity Flow Survey. Accelerating SmartPark Deployment Strategic Plan

The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has released a report that describes a plan to accelerate widespread deployment of SmartPark systems. A SmartPark system notifies truck drivers of real-time parking availability along their routes. This report identifies barriers to deployment – including financial, institutional, technical, and user-acceptance considerations – along with ways to mitigate these barriers.

On June 25, 2019, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held a hearing to examine the adoption of technology by transportation stakeholders and the effects of technology on the surface transportation network. Analysis of the Relationship of Roadside Inspections on Large Truck Crashes

The Upper Great Plains Institute of Transportation Studies at North Dakota State University has released a report that investigates crash severity predicting models and contributing factor explorations. Large truck-related fatal crashes continue to increase, and large truck-related crashes are disproportionate to the amount of total on-road crashes.
