The Upper Great Plains Institute at North Dakota State University has released a report that reviews agent-based models of transportation. These models use data mining and simulation to reflect a high level of detail for travel patterns in a region or state. This report also determines an agent’s travel behavior in rural and small urban freight movement, designs a multi-agent system, and investigates the applicability of the agent’s travel behavior to statewide freight demand mode.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has released a report that estimates how many truck movements might be required to transport freight between Auckland and Northport in New Zealand. This report is an extension of a previous NZTA report that investigates freight flows, economic development and network performance in the Hamilton–Auckland–Tauranga triangle. It extends the previous analysis northward to include Northport.
