This Plumbing Apprenticeship class will fulfill the 144 classroom training hours required for an apprenticeship. Topics covered are: introduction to plumbing profession; plumbing safety; tools of the plumbing trade; plumbing math; plumbing drawings; plastic and pipe fittings; copper and tube fittings; cast-iron pipe fittings; steel pipe fittings; introduction to plumbing fixtures; introduction to drain, waste, and vent systems; and introductions to water distribution systems. This training is a three day, 15 hour course designed to help building contractors prepare for taking the Kansas recognized Building Contractors (Class B) test that is required by most Kansas jurisdictions as part of their contractor licensing program. The instructor will walk participants through the IBC & IRC code books and how they are set up and organized. The class will take a look at examples of test questions. The Instructor will break down test questions to identify the key words that will help in finding the section of the code where the answer to the question can be found. The instructor will also discuss and explain how some definitions and wording in the code books might be different than what you may have learned in regards to construction. During the course several practice tests will be given. Each practice test question will be explained and shown where it is located in the code book. The books are not provided. Participants must purchase their own 2015 International Residential Code Book and 2015 International Building Code Books and bring to class each day.
