Nevada Receives More Than $1 Million For Wildlife Restoration

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service is giving more than $1 million to help fund wildfire restoration in Nevada. Wildfires burned over one million acres this year, resulting in a significant loss of agricultural land and critical sage grouse habitat. The USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service made $1.

Carson City Fire Department sends engine, personnel to Camp Fire in Northern California

The Carson City Fire Department has sent a type 3 engine with four personnel as part of a 5-engine strike team from Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe to the Camp Fire burning out of control in Butte County, Calif. The team left Carson City shortly after noon on its way to the fire, said Carson City Fire Department Chief Sean Slamon.

The winners of the 2018 contested Carson City elections are Stacey Giomi for Carson City Board of Supervisors Ward 1, Kristin Luis for Carson City Justice of the Peace Department 2, and Kenny Furlong for Carson City Sheriff. Reno Crews Put Out Small Fire Next to Roller Kingdom

Reno Fire crews say a homeless camp setup may be to blame for an early morning next to Roller Kingdom. Firefighters say the fire started on an attached annex next to a haunted house, in the 500 block of east 7th Street in Reno. Reno Fire say this is the second time it's recently happened - and say homeless was using the area for a warming fire.

Woman charged with arson after northwest Las Vegas condo fire

A Las Vegas woman is being held in the Clark County Detention Center after being charged with one count of Arson First Degree for allegedly setting her northwest Las Vegas condo on fire just after midnight, Friday morning. No one was injured during the incident. At least eight people are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

Richard Darril Foremaster passed away on October 27th at the Northern Nevada Medical Center. Born December 3, 1942 at Washoe Medical Center to John and Maria Foremaster of Sparks. He is preceded in death by both parents, brothers David and Michael. He is survived by wife Charlotte (Northness) Foremaster, son Douglas, grandsons Richard and Jarrod and great granddaughter Preslee all of the Reno/Sparks area.

Las Vegas firefighter claims coworkers shared explicit video

A sexually explicit video of a Las Vegas firefighter was circulated among her coworkers without her knowledge, according to a human resources complaint obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The woman learned in June that her colleagues had the video, according to the complaint. She said in the complaint that the video was sent last year to her ex-boyfriend, a Henderson firefighter.

Firefighters respond to Reno residence motel fire

The Reno Fire Department has extinguished a fire in the 500 block of 2nd Street. Flames were reported at the Frenchman's Station residence motel shortly after 11AM November 1, 2018. Firefighters say it was a kitchen fire that caused extensive damage to one unit. The resident has been taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation; two birds were rescued and are okay.

Henderson: Girl dies after jumping from Stephanie overpass onto Interstate 215

A girl has died after Nevada Highway Patrol says she jumped from the Stephanie Street overpass onto eastbound Interstate 215 Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. NHP says after she jumped, the girl was struck by a FedEx tractor trailer and possibly another vehicle. According to witnesses and evidence on scene, NHP believes the girl intentionally jumped.

One person is dead and another injured after an early Wednesday morning crash in the central valley. The crash was reported just after 3 a.m. at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said. At least two vehicles were involved in the crash, one of which came to a stop in the landscaping outside a 76 gasoline station on the corner.

A middle-aged woman was found dead inside a burning apartment early Saturday in the eastern valley, marking the fifth fire-related death in Las Vegas this year. A man sustained life-threatening injuries in an apartment fire in Midtown Reno Sunday. Three police officers who pulled the unconscious man out of the smoke-filled Joseph’s Inn at 101 State Street were also treated, Battalion Chief John McNamara says. Carson City Fire Department: Brush fire at Duck Hill knocked down, started by Raven helicopter hitting power line
